Shakrain Festival Bangladesh

Shakrain, also known as Kite Festival, is a popular winter festival celebrated in Bangladesh, particularly in the old part of Dhaka city. The festival takes place on the 14th of January according to the Bengali calendar.

The main attraction of the festival is kite flying. Thousands of colorful kites fill the sky as people from different parts of the city come together to participate in the festival. The kites are made of various materials, including paper, bamboo, and cloth, and are often shaped like birds, animals, and other objects.

In addition to kite flying, the festival also features various cultural activities, including music, dance, and traditional games. Food vendors sell a variety of local delicacies, and there are also street performers and entertainers.

One of the unique features of the Shakrain festival is the use of dhaak, a traditional drum, which is played to mark the end of the festival. At the end of the day, the kites are cut loose, and the sky is filled with kites flying freely.

Shakrain is a vibrant and colorful festival that celebrates the arrival of winter and the start of the harvesting season. It is a popular event that brings together people from different communities and promotes a sense of unity and joy.
