1947
On 14th August, Pakistan gained independence from British rule. On 15th August, India gained independence from British rule. These British rulers ruled for about 200 years.
1948
February 23: Dhirendranath Dutta demanded to make Bengali the state language in the Constituent Assembly.
March 21: Mohammad Ali Jinnah announced on racecourse grounds that Urdu will be the only state language in Pakistan.
March 24: Mohammad Ali Jinnah declared at the University of Dhaka that Urdu would be the only state language in Pakistan. But the people of East Bengal could not accept it.
1949
Awami Muslim League was formed on 23rd June. During this time, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani was the president and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the joint general secretary.
1952
January 26: The then prime minister Khwaja Nazimuddin declared that Urdu would be the only state language in Pakistan.
January 30: The All-Party State Language Movement Council was formed.
21st February Great International Mother Language Day. Police said that the police fired brutally on the students who violated Section 144 in the demand of state language. Many people including Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Jabbar were killed and many people did not know. In this movement, the people of Bengal successfully won.
1953
The United Front formed on 4th December, with the parties of Awami Muslim League, Krishak Praja Party, Nizam-e-Islam, Pakistan Democratic Party, Pakistan Khilafat etc.
1954
8-12 March: In the East Pakistan Council elections, the United Front gained 223 seats in the 237 Muslim seats. The United Front has won a large margin in the elections.
On 31st May: Pakistani Governor General Ghulam Mohammad rejected the Council of the United Front and introduced the governor's rule in the province through a notification of 92 (a) section of the constitution.
1958
7th October: Iskander Mirza occupied power through a coup.
On 27th October: Isakandar took power by overthrowing Mirza without blood and took power and appointed himself President Ayub Khan.
1966
5-6th February: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman raised 6 points in the opposition conference, which was later known as the freedom certificate of the Bengali nation.
1969: Mass upsurge
January 5: The Student Crisis Council is formed.
February 22: Agartala conspiracy case against 35 people, including Sheikh Mujib, was withdrawn.
1970: General election of Pakistan
December 7: Awami League wins 167 seats out of 169 seats in the elections.
After winning the seat, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became the President of East Pakistan.
1971: Great War of Liberation
March 2: First national flag hoisted. The University of Dhaka was hoisted on the Kalabhavan. Abdur Rab, the vice president of the then Duxur.
March 7: The historic speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the then Race Course Maidan (present Suhrawardy Udyan) And call for war.
March 26: The Declaration of Independence. On behalf of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, MA Hannan announced this from Chittagong Radio.
April 10: Temporary Mujibnagar government is formed in Badhyanathtala of Meherpur.
April 17: Historical Mujibnagar Day. On this day the temporary Mujibnagar government took oath. And the Declaration of Independence is read. Professor Yusuf Ali read out.
December 6: India recognizes Bangladesh.
December 14: Most intellectuals of Bangladesh are brutally murdered. An attempt was made to merit Bangladesh. Current Martyred Intellectuals Day
December 16, 1971
In the 31st afternoon at 4pm, with 91,000 Pakistani soldiers, the surrender document was signed to independent Bangladesh. On behalf of Pakistan, General Niazi signed the surrender paper. General Zagazit Singh Arora accepted the surrender of India and Bangladesh's Allies.
It started the way of independent Bangladesh. And the people of Bengal started independently.
