So while some of the other Steemians traveled to Koh Chang on Monday, we stayed in Bangkok for two more days to spend time with my friend who came all the way from Singapore to see me. Of course we did the necessary shopping (because it's crazy cheap) and we got some nice massages to boot. It hurt, so I needed it.

We moved from a hotel to a hostel for the last two days in Bangkok. A review of this lovely place will follow. Not only was this cheaper but we were now closer to the hustle and bustle of the city. Saladaeng is the area in Bangkok famous for it's night market, cheap shopping, strip clubs and a bit more shady stuff. I have spent a lot of time in the area in the past, since it was where my friend worked.
There is, however, one thing I'd always wanted to do here, but never did and that's get a tattoo. So last night I did...@robinron: you're still on next year.

Some more impressions of Saladaeng and Patpong.

Being in this place made me realize how much I've missed this country, although I'm quite happy to get out of the city to the island of Koh Chang.

A visit to the jewellery trade center yesterday made for one happy me after finding the gemstone shop I'd been looking for, and new friends.

So today was our turn to say goodbye to Bangkok. It's somewhat bittersweet for me. I love this city but it's nice to get out of the craziness of insane traffic, traffic jams, high-rise buildings, dirt and rats, and into the island life.

Bye bye for now Bangkok, here we come island chill.
