The spiritual awakening: We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.
Love as a spiritual gift is the love of charity, the love projected towards all creatures. And this good love is a grace for all men, we all have gifts. All gifts come from the same spirit and not from a variety of spirits. The apostle Paul in his Letter to the Romans explains: "We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophecy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.", Romans 12:6-8.
There are three passages in the Bible where the variety of the gifts of the spirit is mentioned: Romans 12: 6-8, 1 Corinthians 12:28 and 1 Corinthians 12:4-11. In Romans 12:6-8, Paul makes us a list of some spiritual gifts: prophecy (spiritual gift of counsel), serving, teaching, encouragement, generosity, leadership, mercy.
Paul in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 mention other spiritual gifts: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, distinguishing between spirits, tongues and interpretation of tongues.
In 1 Corinthians 12:28 we have: apostle, prophet, guidance, helping, miracles. Paul is describing to us the most important gifts for the administration of the Church, the Christian community.
The spiritual gifts are qualities of God, perfections: "Be perfect therefore as your heavenly Father is perfect", Matthew 5:48; "Be merciful just as your Father is merciful", Luke 6:36; "Be holy, because I am holy", 1 Peter 1:16
The kingdom of God is living according to the freedom of the spirit, is living the gifts inherit from God, it is living ethically, all gifts are good by definition (what is perfect is also good): "Every good and perfect gift is from above", James 1:17.
We can all serve the Kingdom of God and his providence by living the spiritual denarii inherited from the creator, in this consist the spiritual awakening.
