When a car can individually brake wheels, adjust throttle, monitor g-forces and wheel slippage and adjust driver inputs as a result... we are already well on the way to automated vehicles. I perfectly understand the fear of "the gov't/a hacker may take control and do what they wish with me/my family", so while automated piloting of the vehicle is very attractive, it must come with a retention of absolute control along with a means of manual piloting, in order to gain mainstream acceptance... IMO
