Specialty Cars at the Pierce-Arrow Museum in Buffalo, New York

in #automotive7 years ago (edited)

On a recent trip to Buffalo, NY, I was delighted to find a museum of antique vehicles, including bicycles, early motorbikes, and antique cars produced by the Pierce-Arrow automotive company. Pierce-Arrow got it's start at the turn of the 20th century, along with plenty of other transportation "start-ups" with the rise of the Industrial Revolution. Buffalo was home to many such companies over the course of the next 50 years.

What I was most happy to find were a collection of Chevrolet Corvettes, part of a collection on loan to the museum for display. These specific cars are highly sought after, and both have interesting stories to tell. IMG_1363.jpg

First, we have the 1964 World's Fair Corvette.

As noted in this photo, the car's value is considerable to say the least.

Complete with three taillights on each side, unlike the famous Corvette quad taillights we all know, this show car was truly a one-off.

It's counterpart is an equally impressive, and valuable, piece.

Two pieces of Americana from a true golden age of auto design!
