Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the person's body destroys the insulin-producing cells. These people do not produce insulin so they must replace the insulin using insulin injections or insulin pump therapy.
In Type 2 Diabetes, insulin is produced. However, it may be produced an insufficient amount, and the insulin that is produced does not work properly.
