The Joy of the Wattle Season in Australia
I like walking early in the morning. Clears the mind, soothes the soul and reminds me of how lucky I am to be alive and surrounded with such beauty. Spring in Australia is traditionally signalled with the arrival and blooming of the Wattle Tree. (Scientific Name: Acacia) Their brightness is quite astonishing. You can be driving along at night under the blooms and they are so bright you'd swear they were plugged in to the mains power. The colour contrast with the leaves and they harmony of the colours only adds to the show. Its always such a shame when they fade.
This photo was taken on the Loop Track around the back of the old quarry at Maroondah Reservoir Park. The path is quite steep and I don't usually stop to admire anything on this part of the track. But this caught my eye so I stopped, caught my breath and composed the photo.
