WHY I WONT BE STREAMING GIGS AFTER ALL MY GIGS WERE CANCELLED
A lot has happened in the last week, and most of it I don’t feel the need to comment on. You cannot escape corona virus news, and I certainly do not need to be parroting the news right now. However there is one aspect of the current collapse of daily life I want to comment on.
Since the venues shuts, and all the gigs were cancelled there has been so much chatter about the possibility of streaming gigs as a replacement. Whilst I really like this idea in theory, in practice, for a medium to small artist, streaming a gig may not be a viable replacement.

Or you do a few online / live gigs just for your fans? They can't go to a show either. No worries about good equipment; Just your laptop with camera on for the visuals and your normal recording gear for the sounds?
Although I like this idea a lot, you're assuming I have fans to play to :P This particular project is very new and doesn't exactly have what I'd call any sort of fan base (people don't so much attend my gigs and stumble upon them accidentally :P) If I had a larger following, I'd totally do it!
Some of my friends are small artists as well, but still they do the live streaming. Mostly friends will come and check it out. But who knows, it may also bring more people after streaming more often. At least some exposure on eg FB :)
