Buying a storage unit at a auction site

in #auctions6 years ago

So I don’t do this as a job but from time to time I do go auction sites to find anything local for a good deal. I’ll post government sites in a later post if this has any interest out there. Back to storage auctions this one works across the US it called storagetreasures.com. How it works is you setup a account look over auction for your area bid. If you win most operating storage company’s requirement is copy of your ID, the paid Receipt from storagetresure.com and a deposit. Each State has different laws regarding contents of the lockers but almost every state requires the winner to return all family photo’s, bills, and records. To the facility where the auction was won and they are required to hold those personal items for 6-12 months and attempt to get them back to the owners of the units or family of one is on lease as a contact.

Got above in a unit full of misc tools some still in box store shelf value over $50 dollars.

Anyway there is a lot of ways out there to do a side hustle for money. This is one I do from time to time one because it’s not that hard to do and when you have room to deal with a 5ft by 5 ft unit purchase look over what’s useful and not your normally going to come out ahead unless you make a poor purchase of a unit full of just boxes and totes of paperwork. Why would I say that ... well ya I paid for a very nice clean unit $150 dollars worth of paperwork they refused to accept well over half of the boxes so I got to take a truckload of paper to local recycler and get about $20 dollars back. Net Gain $-130 plus my gas and time. Haha anyway enjoy and never buy a unit full of totes and boxes or it may just be paper.
