Auction Finds - Light Up My Life...

in #auction7 years ago

...not always, since buying from auctions and re-selling on online auctions has become rather routine. But I am definitely fortunate our daily work routine sometimes delivers exciting finds. Even if our daily listings are not always exciting, they are more often than not at least interesting.

This shell light is really pretty...until you turn it around. This will not apply to most people, but it sets off my trypophobia (fear of/revulsion of organic patterns).

Aaaah, let me introduce you to my pet hate - stamps and related items! Unless you are a serious stamp collector, the whole genre seems enormously complicated. Perhaps I have been scarred by my husband dumping loads of stamps with me, for me to go through and try to discover that rare, once in a life time stamp. Stamps, as with coins, are rare for a reason, you don't find them (easily)! Still, I will check a few if they look very interesting. I tend to list them as albums, and not as single stamps. Maybe someone else will find the money item!

A 1950's mechanical calculator made in Sweden. Some early mechanical calculator models can be ultra collectible, and worth quite a bit. I have this one listed at a starting bid of R320 ($25).

A souvenir commemorative beer mug. During the Apartheid era in South Africa the province in which I reside was called Natal, and has since been re-named Kwa-Zulu Natal. The Last Outpost refers to the period of British colonial rule in South Africa, where Natal was the last outpost of British civilization!

A fantastic vintage tapestry.

Various porcelain pieces. The birds are actually very small, the largest measures 11cm/5cm, but achieved a very good price. (R287/$24), especially as they had a maker's name I have never heard of before.

I buy and sell and hardly keep anything!!!

Must be an interesting career to cross the path of a lot of interesting articles.

It is, if a little on the dirty side ;)
