Mercy and Favour

in #attitude6 years ago

Favor and mercy are not virtues we celebrate today. Maybe the reason is because we don't understand what they actually mean. Favor is when are given the pleasure we don't deserve and mercy is when we are not given the punishment we deserve. Technically speaking, favor is not fair. If you are able to justify why someone or you received a favor, then it's not favor but a reward. Similarly, if someone has to do something(s) to get you to be merciful, then what you give the person is not mercy but payment. Now, God favors whom he chooses, just like Presidents in most countries pardon whom they so choose. Pardon (forgiveness) is not an acknowledgment of a wrongful conviction or action. Having said that, it needs to said that the fact that the plant God favors can grow without rain does not mean you should leave your plants and not water them. The same elders that gave us this proverb also say, "God is good but never dance with a leopard". Like they say in Sweden, "God gives every bird its worm but does not throw it into its nest" The proverb is only telling us that if you should find yourself in a position where there is nothing humanly possibly you can do in the face of daunting challenges, be hopeful that God will help you to thrive in the situation. Be favored!
