Hitchens Disproves God in 10 Minutes (or less)

in #atheism7 years ago (edited)

Believe in God, or don't believe in God. Just be certain that Mr. Hitchens (R.I.P.) has not disproved anything here. He has merely given his opinions about very selective aspects of Abrahamic religions presented completely out of context. He is either unable or unwilling to acknowledge that these aspects of faith he loathes have very sound reasons behind them that have been proven true over the course of history (the teachings have been tested by time and every prediction has come true...sound familiar?). Notice how it's all about sex, privacy, and possession (me, myself, and mine). The only three things that matter if the atheistic world view is correct.

He equates belief in God to living under North Korean dictatorship. I would remind those of like mind that N. Korea is a product of atheism. I would also mention a little fact that doesn't seem to get the attention it deserves; that Western culture which made possible his western education, along with the freedom to apply it, right down to the modern homes and hospitals he lived and died in, due in part to the fine spirits he is clearly under the influence of, were made possible because of the Roman Catholic Church. He doesn't even have the courtesy to remind his audience that these are only opinions and encourage them to look into it for themselves. That's what someone who speaks the truth as far as they know it would do. This poor man was very angry under that proper British persona. He is intentionally presenting deception here. If anyone who is atheist would use this speech as support for their argument, understand that you are only proving that you also believe in lies and fairy tales. The difference is, the lies you believe in actually can be disproved in ten minutes.
