ASW Contest: Abandoned Corridors at an Abandoned State Hospital
Abandoned State Hospital in Indiana

Last weeks theme for the ASW contest hosted by @customnature is abandoned corridors. I did not catch this contest in time as the deadline to enter was last Sunday and the winners might even be announced by the time this post goes live. So this is not an actual entry, I just wanted to add to the tag and share one of my abandoned corridor shots. This particular shot was taken at an abandoned state hospital near Indianapolis in Indiana. I took full advantage of my wide angle lens on this one and managed to fit two corridors in the frame by standing in a 90 degree intersection.
This is a great shot. I love how you captured the intersection of the two hallways. There is something so eerie about abandoned hospitals. It almost like you can feel the pain and suffering left behind.
Thank you! I loved that I was able to fit both hallways in one frame. This was an old mental hospital as well, creepy to think about what went down there back in the day when they forcibly institutionalized and drugged those who were labeled as insane.
This one certainly could have been a winner! What a great shot and handling of difficult light! I'm so jealous of all the people who live in countries that just leave abandoned places lingering around :D
Thank you! The Netherlands is just too clean for that, honestly that is most likely a good thing! Letting buildings rot away is a sign of a struggling economy, it might make for good photographs but there are a lot of other reasons why such areas are not the best to live in. Most of my really good abandonment shots like this one are from the rust belt, a part of the USA that I like to visit for urbex reasons but I would not want to live there.
Nice perspective on the corner corridors! I hope you had your hard hat on!
Good post...
