Asus PG35VQ - 35" ultrawide 1440p, HDR, 200Hz, G-sync
"THE 35” ROG SWIFT PG35VQ GAMING MONITOR TURNS HDR AND QUANTUM DOTS UP TO 200HZ"
My first impression over this product was," wow 200HZ, and 1440p?" Playing games must look better than real life! Why do I even go outside to begin with?
This is a 35" 21:9 ultra wide from Asus that takes advantage of HDR, and G-Sync technology. HDR, is the addition of a highly dynamic range which is the ratio of light to dark that appears in a picture.
After years, and years of playing on 60Hz panels, it gives me joy to see these higher refresh rates. Currently I'm using a 1440p, and 144hz panel by BenQ, and honestly it's worth the over inflated price... BenQ aside Asus managed to reach 200Hz, all thanks to NVIDIA's G-Sync technology.
The ROG SWIFT has a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, which is apparently "roughly three times what you get with traditional monitors." - Asus.
Localized dimming is where Asus is getting the vast contrast range. The panel is lit up by 512 individual LEDs that can be manipulated to darken a certain portion of the screen.
Asus also makes use of "quantum dots" which broaden the spectrum of tones the monitor can put out. Using these "nanoparticles" allow the display to support the DCI-P3 color space, which is usually associated with cinema projectors.
RGB!? Yes the ROG has an illuminated Aura on the back of the panel that can be synced up with other ROG brands, such as motherboards, graphics cards, memory, and cases.
This is actually an incredible looking panel. Everything from the back RBG, to the beast of a refresh rate, really give this monitor an edge up from other ultra widescreen competitors. I'm not too much of a fan of the whole monitor projector at the bottom, but I do give it to ASUS for trying to make this a fun, and really thought out panel.
Conclusion: Would I pick this up? Currently, at a whopping $1,199.99 probably not, but it is a beautiful monitor none the less. If you have loads of cash to spend, and you're a "hard-core enthusiast" then spending an arm may be the right move for you!
