The Orion Nebula, taken with a DSLR camera
I took this image near Austin Texas. It represents a couple hours worth of exposure. The camera is attached to a telescope.
The nebula is located in the constellation Orion. It is on the "sword of Orion" and is actually visible to the naked in dark skys. It will appear as a smudge just below Orions belt.
Amazing! Since it takes hours of exposure do you only get one or shots per night?

Thank you! Each exposure is 2 mins. I took many photos over a couple of different nights. Next I used a free program called "deepsky stacker" to stack all the images into a single master image. I then use photoshop to pull out all the detail.
It's a fun hobby. I'm still pretty new at it.
