May 15: Taurus New Moon: Grounding Through Values
Recently I have felt a deep pull to continue my self-study of astrology. With my solar return this past weekend, I have been celebrating this newly 23 year old me by standing tall in who I am and verifying my goals for this life.
The more I look into true astrological study, the more I find resounding truths in the coincidences and emotive sensations of our solar system. I am looking to dive deeper into this understanding.
As an avid student, I know that one great way to check comprehension is to try and teach someone else what you have learned. I will be working with the astrological transits and hopefully sharing my insights with my steemit community as the wheel keeps turning.
Here, we, go!
This morning held the new moon in Taurus.
Ruled by the planet Venus, Taurus is sensual, material, and strong-willed. The 2nd sign of the zodiac, this fixed earth sign is related with trust, reward and earthly pleasures.
With both the sun and moon in Taurus (conjunct), there is a surge of energy towards new projects and fresh starts. A collective feeling of earthy, passionate, grounded energy is in the air. This can mean a lot of focus on the home life, material well-being, and personal relationships.
New moons have a sort of up-and-coming energy, calling for a breaking free of past cycles.
Every end is a new beginning.
Just like the saying "as one door closes another opens", we can see this cyclic pattern with the lunar phases. The darkening skies without reflective light from the sun is an anticipatory moment in time as we wait for the fullness of the lunar orb to brighten once more.
Taking time to re-evaluate and recognize your core values and what makes you you will be of great benefit today. Shedding behaviors and roles which no longer serve you or hinder you from your fullest expression will create space for more opportunities of deep connection and love to enter your life.
Watching where our thoughts wander to and how we use our energy can be revolutionary. Taking time to work with and understand our shadow sides will help us be strong instead of indulgent. Being gentle with ourselves is a must while we are experiencing such depth of emotional transits.
Consumption of all kinds is something to take note of with this new moon. What we purchase directly impacts the revolution of consumptive capitalistic practices.
If you can make it yourself, or support local or small business over large corporations and monopoly industries--do it. The machine runs on our input, so make sure you are aligning your purchases with the paradigms you support.
Putting it bluntly:
If we are to change the world we must first change ourselves.
Stop promoting things you don't agree with, pay attention to your actions and hold yourself accountable. Make sure your actions align with your intentions. Value integrity. Take time to reconnect with nature and realize the abundant beauty all around us.
Personally, during this new moon I am focusing my intentions on being more honest with my beliefs and conscious of my behaviors and emotional responses, allowing more space for thought and reflection. I hope to be strong in my voice, helping to speak about topics which do not have the privilege of a stage.
I want to focus my efforts much more on sustainability, initiating composting and recycling initiatives at the house I am staying at. Simple efforts like paying attention to what we are purchasing can make a huge difference in the amount of plastic and waste we consume.
Similarly, what we purchase directly impacts the revolution of consumptive capitalistic practices. If you can make it yourself, or support local or small business over large corporations and monopoly industries--do it.
The machine runs on our input, so make sure you are aligning your purchases with the paradigms you support.

Jupiter is Trine Neptune, bringing in a generous, compassionate energy that seeks to uplift and connect community. This trine can bring in higher connection to faith, and more energy towards personal transformation. If your new moon intentions are honest, you may find that the positive benefits of this trine outweigh the square between Mars and Uranus--linked with an increase in accidents and violent behaviors.
Speaking of Uranus, there are some big changes coming with this planet's transit into Taurus! Uranus, the planet of change, freedom, higher consciousness, disruption and evolution, is moving into the sign of Taurus after being in Aries since 2011. You most likely have never experienced these vibes, since Uranus has not been in Taurus since 1942. A slow moving outer planet, its ellipses through the signs takes approximately 84 years.
This previous Uranus in Taurus transit held WW2 among many political and societal changes. The world shook. Uranus leads technological change and conscious revolution. With the earthy conventional Taurus, we may see lots of groundbreaking change in terms of how we treat the earth and material goods. Societies will pay more attention to agriculture, finances and all forms systematic oppression.
If we keep our focus on positive interaction with this transit, we could have stunning new opportunities for removing waste, growing food and maintaining our ecosystem. If we fall short in our integrity to act, the shadowed tendencies towards greed, stubborn behavior and laziness may take hold.
If you are curious about how these planetary movements will more personally effect you, I suggest creating your natal chart and reading further on the influences of the planets as they relate to your chart.
I know longer posts can get a little heavy, so thank you so much for reading this far!
Let me know if you have any questions or comments on these insights. I'm still new to these studies, so bear with me as I work to understand the complexities of astrology.
Till next time,
be sweet, stay wild
