Peter Rabbit's Dark Side? Explained
In this video, I detail the full level of bullshit that I think people taking issue with the Peter Rabbit movie is. Everyone seems to always have to be offended by something, and I get it, it's far easier to be offended than to think of any actual solutions. But forcing a company to apologize fixes nothing. All you've done is wasted everyone's time.
Instead, you could have pushed forward in awareness of food allergy issues and tried to raise funding.
You could have used the movie as a point of reference for education.
But no, you did none of those things. You got into a twitter war, and that's just one of the few issues I take with the whole situation. Hopefully, somehow just a little bit of reason and common sense sinks its way back into the world in 2018. Sooner rather than later, if we are lucky.

I don't even know how to react to this. Annoyed? Confused? Apathetic? Disgusted? Amused? It's a fucking movie where the villain's weakness is exploited. I didn't even know people cared about allergies except when they get snooty if something served to them has the ingredient that triggers it in it (in which case, disclosure helps).
Legitimately, I have no clue how to feel about this. I just have this dumbfounded look on my face right now.
I'm thinking it should probably be a mixture of all those feelings. Though I will give them the fact that allergies can be a serious issue. There are deaths caused by allergies every year, and the number isn't in the single digits Even with that, considering it's a movie and the way it's set up, they don't have a foot to stand on, getting offended over it.
I'm finding myself more and more disgusted by what people get offended over these days, and it's only getting worse. Maybe the upside for me is more videos to do, but god after doing just this one I'm already pretty sick of it.
Being offended is the new religion in the west. Its sad really.
No kidding, I'm starting to really get sick of this type of shit. I've been aware of this level of bullshit for awhile now, and god damn it never gets better.
It goes in cycles. The 80's had religious outrage, the 1990's saw that fall out of favor but started the PC bullshit, in the early 2000's the PC shit went away but the religious shit started again, now we are back to being PC. Give it some time and we will be back to having crazy Christians and republicans being the bad guys.
As far as I can tell it works like this, whoever is in power keeps pushing their nonsense until they piss every one off. Everyone pushes back and puts the oppisite side in power. They become unpopular and it becomes ok to fuck on them. Then the cycle starts over.
Thats how I see it anyway.
