FATHER, MAY I NOT BE ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL
READ: Romans 1:16-25
Key Scripture: For I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. (Romans 1:16).
THOUGHTS
Michael Leal was a high school student, who always talked about Jesus to his fellow students and distributed tracts to them. When the school authority knew about it, Michael was suspended thrice but that didn't deter him. He wasn't doing it during instructional periods; he was doing it at free times. How many young people will take up their bibles and begin to talk about Christ? They will dance at parties; they will not be ashamed. They will participate in competitions with thousands of eyes staring at them, and yet not be shy. It is when they carry the bible that they will become ashamed. This reflection is not only for young people; it is for everyone. Think about the early Christians. They were not ashamed of the Gospel. Paul wasn't; Peter wasn't, John wasn't. None was. They saw the Gospel as a part of their lives. Preaching the Gospel is part of our existence. We should not be shy to exist. Pray for the courage to identify with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
