Introduction
On-chain storage are considered too expensive on the existing blockchains as they need to introduce new third-party protocols on the top of existing platforms. However, unlike many existing blockchain on data storage, Arweave’s new protocol allows data to store on-chain permanently.As the amount of data stored in the system increases, the amount of hashing needed for consensus decreases, which reduces the cost of data storage. The protocol’s existing REST API makes it simple to build decentralised applications on top of the blockweave

Technology
Arweave is built on four core technologies that work together to create low cost, high throughput and permanent storage on a new blockchain. The core technologies are named; Blockweave, Proof of Access, Wildfire and Blockshadows.
