Artists losong their jobs to AI?
It will definitely increasingly decrease the job market for artists. It will eat the mediocre and prosaic art tasks first much The Way photography did. Newspaper illustrations, family portraits, signs and diagrams fell relatively quickly and easily to photography. AI art will replace a lot of mediocre graphics work and illustration pretty soon. They will allow a lot more customizable art and more illustrations particularly in fictional works and games. Pretty soon the best art will be created by genuine artists that know how to use these tools well. They will not only be creating a mass of new art for fictional works and entertainment, but some of the best art out there will probably be collaborative efforts between human and AI. Then I foresee AI replacing humans in about 10 to 15 years assuming the current trajectories rather than a discontinuity caused by self improving AI. If humanity survives human beings will always have a certain collectible and social prestige value.
If I were a professional artist I would definitely be spending a lot of time learning how to use these tools effectively. As an amateur I'm having fun making pictures that are Way beyond my technical skills but have contents that I enjoy.
