Staring deeply into the lethargic yet steadily flowing stream on a beautiful spring morning would be a peaceful and welcoming sight for most. Annabelle was anything but at peace. In her hand she held the last masterpiece of her late mother, who disappeared eight years ago on this day. A pendant resembling an ornate frame with the picture of this very river on it was the last gift she would ever receive from her mother, who had designed two; one for each of them with the promise that neither would ever go anywhere without theirs. The river was a special place that her father and mother would visit frequently just to get away from the world for a few hours. "Alright honey, it's time to go," called Annabelle's father. Annabelle turned away from the river. Looking down she realized she had dropped her pendant. As she picked it up, she could feel her father's eyes locked onto hers as she held both pendants in her hands.

Some mirrors absolutely should be broken. Simone hadn't realised that yesterday of course when the delivery men brought this particular one over from the fair she'd bought it at. And then smashed the glass getting it's ornate frame through the door. Joshua had lost his temper and cursed them. Yet somehow it was her fault, as always, in the end. Now, in the cool light of morning she'd been awoken by another dream of drowning only to find there really was water everywhere. And this strange scene spilling from the mirror in a hazy, inviting portal. She could smell the landscape beyond, rich and warm earth so at odds with the icy isle she called home. She'd touched it then, that shimmer beyond the frame, and her skin had thrilled to goose-bumps at the warm electricity of it. You can start over she thought casting a last look at Joshua tangled in the sheets of some dream But you have to go now.

" The greats never forget to dream" she said. We are limited to what we believe. I was tired of hearing the words of wisdom on a daily. It was like she was preparing me for something, like all she said was related to my future. My grandma of late had started speaking of a place in the mirror, she said that when I was ready I would go there, that it was all destiny but that couldn't be true, those were childhood folklore that helped me fall asleep. Of late I couldn't discern between when she was joking and being serious. Thud, I was drawn to the sound that came from the master bedroom, it seems like something had fallen, rushing there I saw her on the floor. She had fallen and in front of her lay a mirror I had never seen. The intricate design was ab enigma to my eyes. "Help", I cried, screaming at the top of my voice.

I was planning on posting this earlier but I ended up cooking a very late dinner and before I knew it the day had ended! In my earlier blog post “A wolf at the door” I talked about joining the guys in a round of Magic. That ended up happening which took up a lot of my drawing time. Ugh, I get distracted from getting things done and that is why I can’t play games! On the up side I did win one round (totally crushed them) but then lost the second. 

You might recognize this image from my warm up ink sketches. I had planned on coloring it in but wasn’t fully committed to the idea of making it into a fox tales story image until a got a nod of approval from @tarotbyfergus. We’ve been talking about a collaboration since last week and it looks like it’s going to happen. Keep your eyes open for something fun on his end sometimes this week!

If you’ve noticed, my fox tales logo no longer has it’s border. I’m looking to update the logo soon. Until that’s sorted, I hope you enjoy this week’s image and I look forward to reading your creative stories!

The length is to your interpretation. There is no real ‘rule’ of how long a paragraph is but I’d say to use your best judgement. If it doesn’t flow right and you know that it is indeed going over then edit your writing.
