'Cityscape or Escape'
A very strong contrast achieved by the strong afternoon sun is creating deep shadows. Combined with the linear perspective, they pull out quite a bit of drama out of this photograph. The colours are scarce, everything appears to be somewhat colourless, except for the beautiful but dramatic blue sky made of various tonalities of blue and cyan.
The wide stairs lead to the fairytale-ish sky as if offering an escape from the unnatural concrete surroundings of a city, made of subdued colours. However, the escape is denied by the tall skyscraper in the background, right at the end of the stairs. Stairway to heaven? Nope, buddy...
The composition is well thought of and very balanced elements-wise. The big dark shadow does a lot of storytelling. A little bit of green on the posts in the background try to match the sky but it is just not enough. But, when combined with the greenish foreground in front of stairs and the balconies in the distance, the greens gain a significant, yet subliminal role.
So, do you run up this stairs to reach the sky or stay in the shadows of mundane effort?

It really amazing how the sun can create a very gorgeous art effect in the afternoon. These are really rare colours that can only be gotten by professional hands and originality, and my boss @velimir has got both...smiles.
This is definetly an Escape route to the sky and to the heavens, because so many people would love to take this beautiful stairs up to the heavens, go tell God their problems face-to-face and probably go tell Him about the Steem dip...lol! For me, I will definitely run up to the stairs to reach and pass the sky, cos that skyscraper cant stop moir and I can't continue hiding in the shadows. This art is pretty cool...Kudos boss!
I love the write up that you did to go with this photo because I am not sure I would have seen this the same way that you have, I will admit that freely. The world is a beautiful place that should be appreciated but I think we spend most of our lives walking right past anything gorgeous because we are bogged down with too many worries and cares to notice anything else. Thanks for taking the time to share!

The gift that has the meaning of the world can not be overcome with the desire to enrich themselves.
The more we are eager to pursue the world, the more we will feel poor. Pursue the matter of the afterlife, then we will feel quite with the world we have. The shadow we see we can not catch. By turning around, we will face the source light, the sun. The sun that is like the afterlife, which we decree then we will get closer to that light, and our shadow (the world) will keep us aligned.
Bad thing if we are facing the shadows and chasing it. Then the shadow can not be reached, while the light will go further. If we are only busy and world, then the world and the hereafter will further away from us.
The ladder in this context looks like an attempt to escape from vanity, from problems. Muted colors create an atmosphere of drama. But as we see it is unreal. From problems you can not escape. It is important to realize that you are the creator of your problems. A "recipe" for solving the problem is obvious - do not run away from problems and eliminate the shortcomings that led you to it.
This is not the staircase to climb. It is limited. A person needs a larger goal (the ladder is longer). If the ladder is longer - then the goal to which the person is more desirable and significant. Our whole life consists in rising and falling. But some people can climb and take a lesson from this, and some do not. This distinguishes a successful person and a loser.
