Still lifes with fruits
One of the theories on evolution of color vision suggests that primates developed trichromacy (ability to develop red vs. green colors) in order to better find ripe fruits amidst the green foliage. In modern times this ability allows us to distinguish and appreciate much more color tones in paintings. So some artists recognize the significance of fruits and pay tribute to them by painting still lifes.
