Wealth - Poem by Langston Hughes
WEALTH
Poem By: Langston Hughes
From Christ to Ghandi
Appears this truth-
St. Francis of Assisi
Proves it, too:
Goodness becomes grandeur
Surpassing might of kings.
Halos of kindness
Brighter shine
Than crowns of gold,
And brighter
Than rich diamonds
Sparkles
The simple dew
Of love.
True wealth is in goodness, and in the subtle gestures of kindness that you offer to the world. What is it to have all the wealth in the world? If you do not have love, kindness and gestures of giving without any thought of return that life becomes all the more sweeter.
