Work continues
At this point the sculpture should have a name but I haven't decided yet, as I'm not 100% sure where I'm going with this. I never really start with a sketch. I start with an idea and as the sculpture grows, it sort of tells me where it wants to go. Quite often, halfway, it changes its mind and heads into a totally different direction.
But yesterday I got as far as this.
I want her to wear some kind of jacket so that means I first need to cover the neck and then add another layer for the jacket's collar. The different layers is something I started with a year or 3 ago and it takes the sculptures to a higher level I feel. It's a lot more work ofcourse but the result is very pleasing.
So tonight she looked like this.
The plan now is to add some 'hair'. Just want to give this a try, see where it goes.
More on friday probably.
Amazing work! Curious how she will look in the end.
You may find out tomorrow.
Respect, you are working so accurately.
I too like the use of flame colors, also done so accurate.
Sometimes you burn some liquid on, am I right ?
I tried melting copper and brass onto the iron.
It works but I never got it precise.
Thanks. I've burned liquid onto bronze for patination but those things don't work well on steel. Instead there's blue-ing and burning and grey-ing with what we call 'pencil'. I've been playing with some shop-bought chemical products mixed with coloured powders, but with varied results. But then that's what makes it fun. Wait 'till you see the colour on this one. ;)
