Adding pixel layers to vector art makes things a lot more versatile with shading and texture. Affinity Designer is awesome for this because you can switch back and forth between vector and pixel seamlessly.

Yeah, I use Affinity :D Glad to see it's getting more wide spread adoption.
Illustrator might be a little bit more powerful, but for a fraction of the price, Designer is so close in performance it makes it way better when comparing the cost/value together. And the fact that the iPad version of Designer is just as powerful as the desktop sets it well above Adobe in my opinion.
Haven't used AI in ages. What features does it have that Affinity doesn't?
