A new illustrative book for my collection!
As you know, me and my hubby love to collect illustrative books and we have some very interesting pieces of old books and new books too in our collection.
I personally started to collect some new illustrative books just in the last year (and thanks to steemit, because illustrative books sometimes are a bit expensive ^_^ ) and today I was to the book signing of this new graphic novel in my favorite local bookshop called Les bouquinistes (yes, the owners love so much Paris and so they use this name even if we are in Italy ^_^).
The title of this book is "I giorni del vino e delle rose" (in Italian means "The days of wine and roses") because it talk about a poem of Ernest Dowson that inspired the title of the melancholic, sad movie by Black Edwards.
The graphic novel is in black and white and I admit that I love the style that the artist used to create it. The book is the result of a collaboration between a young italian writer (Diego Bertelli) and a young illustrator (Silvia Rocchi) and during the book signing of today there was also the owner of the publishing house (a little indipendent publishing house) who said he left the illustrator free to work on the story written by the writer because he liked so much her previous works. It's very rare, here in Italy, that a publishing house leave an artist free to work, so I had so much respect for the owner of the publishing house and, sure, for the writer and the illustrator too, because I have to say that this book is really an awesome "product" .
It was a funny book signing and the writer talk to us about the born of the book and his experience to work on it. He's a writer and poet too, so it was very interesting to hear about his first collaboration with an artist and how this collaboration had the final result after about 3 years. It was a long work, but at the end it was a great work. ^_^
I had not my camera during the book signing, so I could take a pic just with my poor smarthphone, sorry!
The guy in the center of the photo is Diego Bertelli, the writer. The illustrator was not there because is sick in these day, but I know her works because we are working (with other almost 25 illustrators) to the project of the women painter of the past ^_^
Night night to everyone
Silvia
There is something very special about going into a bookstore. The smells, the feel of paper, even the annoying cough from someone somewhere in the store :)
I love this post and how you articulated your love for graphic art and sketches. This author, who I pegged to be the guy in the middle with the hat on, is a gem. I'm happy for you to have met him.
Lovely post.
I agree with you, there's really something special about going a bookstore! Magical!
Awesome
Thanks so much, dear @jsantana ^_^
Looks fab! I like that kind of rough style too. You must have a fair collection!
Paolo collect illustrative books and comic since he was a young boy (many many years ago :P ), I started just in the last year, even if I have a great collection of Mickey Mouse :D
You should make a pic collection of your book collection for more steemit posts. I like the pencil edge roughness of these illustrations.
You should have told him about steemit!! i'm sure he would love to come to this platform and share is stories and texts
Picture stories make a lot of sense to me, most times i prefer these kinda collections to others. The pencil sketch is beautiful and the rough edges makes them more lovely.
I like the illustrative book, the comic and the graphic novel, not just because thanks to them i can learn something for my work, but also because it looks like to read many different stories in the same book, nice! ^_^
Wonderful.
I deserve an upvote😜
When you hear spamming on steemit, this comment is a practical example @official-mo its true that every posts and comments stands the chance to earn here but then you have to create good content in your posts or make positive contribution of your own ideas in other peoples posts here in comments section. That's how to earn in the right way if you really want to build your account not directly asking for upvote from people like you just did. It seems you are unaware of flagging or downvoting, its an experience you obviously dont want to encounter, blog safe.
Hmmmm
Yea!!!
Just pls upvote
I already did! :op
Thanks man.
I meant comment upvote
I really need some sbd to build my steemit acct
