Crochet Lily
Hi Steemit :-) I'm really proud of this lily that I made yesterday, especially as I managed to write the pattern down! It took a while to get the petal to curve just right, but I think I got it in the end.
(All stitches are English)
(With green wool) chain (ch) 5 and join the first ch to the last ch to make a circle.
Ch1, work 5 double crochet (dc) into the circle, join with a slip stitch (ss)

Ch1, 4 dc, 2 dc in same stitch, 3 dc, ss. Tie off.
Attach white wool. Ch 1, 1 dc in each stitch, do the last dc in the same stitch as the first dc. Don't join, turn and work down back of petal.

Ch 1, dc in each st until 2 st from the end, dc2tog, turn.
Ch 1, dc2tog, dc in each st until 2 st from the end, dc2tog, turn.
Ch 1, dc2tog, dc in each st until end, turn.

Ch 1, 3 dc, turn.
Ch 1, dc2tog, dc, turn.
Ch 1, 2 dc, turn.
Ch 1, dc. Tie off.
Using a wool needle and some white wool, stitch rows 1-10 together with a little bit of overlap.
For the stamen:
I usually ch 4, then join the last st to the 1st st to create a loop. I then do 1 ss in each to create a tube, then insert the tube into the flower.
Thank you for reading :-) Please let me know what you think!
"All Stitches are English" hehe (no idea what that means but it makes my mind play)
And wow, really cool. How long did that take?
Haha! The stitches are different in the US so thought that it would be best to specify, but now I've read it again it does seem silly! Thank you for the compliment :-) it took about 3 hours last night as I had to keep un-picking it and re-stitching as it's not something that I've made before.
it takes patience to be able to finish it all, you are very great @shammyshiggs
I'm very interesting with your work :)
there are various versions of crochet terms, the two most popular being US terms and English terms. when writing a pattern you have to say which, as a double crochet in US instructions is twice the size of the UK double crochet (which is called a single crochet in US terms.)
Lovely! I wish I knew how to do that!
I love your lily and the pattern looks easy to follow, I don't really crochet flowers but will pass a link to @stichinsista (my real sister) who is fabulous at them.
I tend to do more overlay work like my Alice motif Pattern
I'm really enjoying seeing your work pop up on my feed.
Thank you! I've been trying to think of something else to crochet, will have a go at your pattern, it's lovely xx
oh please let me know how you get on. if anything is unclear you can send me a message in steemchat.
Beautiful, I really wanna learn how to make crochet! huhu
