Plein Air Painting - Poplars and Sycamores, Dalefield, New Zealand
It’s been a nice sunny day so I decided to go for an evening plein air painting trip. This location is about 15 minutes outside of Queenstown and a place I come to frequently to paint.
I painted this stand of poplar and sycamore trees as I lived the vibrant greens and the strong shadows. I painted the mid ground in shadow to emphasise the trees. As there was intermittent cloud the mid ground was actually in shadow for a while, just enough time to paint it.
I painted this art work in oils.
‘Poplars and Sycamores, Queenstown, New Zealand, 20cm x 26cm, oil on canvas, painted outdoors en plein air.

Gosh, this looks lovely, Sam.
Really nice seeing the subtler shadows and a slightly more muted tones on this one.
Melbourne has been wretched with blowy winds... but today it has calmed down, at least...
