City Hues
Soft grey
Delicate greys and tints of green and blue form today's watercolour and ink drawing. This is a small cityscape comprising of soft colours and dark lines. This was originally one of my of testing papers that I tried out my colours on for another piece of work, the build up of colours was really interesting so I decide to turn what would have been a discarded piece of paper into a tiny fantasy cityscape drawing.
I applied more watercolours to the paper, hinting at the shapes of some of the buildings.
I drew over the watercolour layers using black drawing ink and a dip pen to apply it. I built up areas of quick lines and hatching, keeping the line style loose and energetic.
The final touch was to add the sun, I wanted this to be a subtle addition in the same colour palette so I masked off my area and built up gentle layers of colour. Once dry, I removed the tape to reveal the subtle circular shape with a halo of white to frame it.
This little painting will go up on my board of tiny paintings and sketches. You never know it may become inspiration for a future piece of work!

Thank you very much!
?Thank you for shearing.
Beautiful!! I have watercolours that I dabble with sometimes, but I am not even close to as good as you are. Thanks for sharing!
I experiment a lot with paints until i find a style of working I'm happy with.
Ah, I see! Makes absolute sense.
I just got off my page looking for your recent post, and found none. I returned by chance and lo, I saw your new post on the top of my feed.
In as much as light shines, every little thing is an inspiration to an artist. Do you train people about these sorts of painting?
I do teach art workshops yes, but I teach lots of different styles and mediums.
-Thank you for that quote- helped me spot my typo 'panting' (lol)
Nice :)
Thanks!
