She is Mindy Alper, A life affected and her escape: THE ART

This is Mindy Alper, a cartoonist, sculptor and painting that lives in Los Angeles, United States, nation in 1959, and now thanks to the director Frank Stiefel was made known even more his work for a documentary that won the award of the Academy of Oscars 2018.

Since she was a little girl, Mindy has had the ability to draw and throughout her life she has maintained closeness to art, born in New York, she was diagnosed with autism when she was a child, but she points out that this was not the origin of her problems but the of the difficulty you have to learn.

She says:

I started drawing when I was barely a year old, and I have not stopped since then, it's like a cigarette, it's become quite a compulsive habit and anxiety increases when I'm not drawing.

His work is immersed in what is known as outsider art, this is a school where his works are mainly by self-taught, people who work and believe in isolation, visionaries and psychotics, so their work according to authors leads Outsider label, however for Alper is ART and his works is his freest form of expression he has found.

His mind is complex, it is a labyrinth from which ideas flow impressively and his vision of the world is unique; everything that is today had greater relevance to a fact happened in his life in 1986 where he suffered a major nervous breakdown due to accumulated situations since childhood and lost the ability to write and speak.

During his recovery he could only communicate through the drawing and from there his works have been emblematic and unique, although he has recovered at some point suffers decays and submerges in silence for short periods.

In the documentary called "Heaven is a traficc jam in the 405", it is shown how great the artist makes his works, how he struggles day by day with his condition and his way of seeing the world, and that at 57 he does not stop to create and show everything he feels with ART as a means of expression and communication.
