Drawing #38 - Wind Design; Digression: Do you think it's edible?steemCreated with Sketch.

Hello Fellow Steemers!

✽-(ˆ▽ˆ)/✽

Can you tell this is a cheerleader emoji? I would like to know who makes up this stuff, definitely not me. But it's cute! I could never be a cheerleader, especially when I was younger because I was more tomboyish. I didn't dare take my hoodie off, let alone put on a skirt. Anyway, I'll save the rest of the digression for last, because first:

The Wind has a little more color!

At first, I was going to just color in one swirl and work on making it 3-D looking, which is what I started working on with the largest red swirl, but eventually I figured it would be better to just color as much of it as I can manage today, and deal with the fine-tuning later.

I definitely do want to work on making the largest red swirl (wind) more 3-D looking, because it still looks kind of flat to me. Once it's finished I want to post the before and after picture; before 3-D effects and after 3-D effects. I think that would be cool to see because I don't really incorporate much 3-D in my drawings. At least, I don't think that I do. I still don't really know how to shade objects to give it a 3-D look.

My attempt to create 3-D art was actually inspired today by my fellow art friend, who just commented, "It takes a lot of skill to draw 3-D stuff." I definitely agree, and so concluded that I needed to practice. This picture is my practice!

This is the coloring process:

I Digress: Do you think it's edible?

I mean... I'm definitely not going to eat it, but I saw these little mushrooms (they're mushrooms... right?) growing right outside of my apartment building. Every time I see mushrooms growing in random places, I always wonder if I could eat them. I wonder the same thing when I see little strange berries growing on trees I walk by.

I've nibbled on an acorn when I was younger because the squirrels look so darn hard for them that I wanted to know if they tasted good or not.

It was bitter.
Don't eat them.

Thank you Mr. Plankton (^-^)/

it's coming together really nicely, @omega-not !!!

omg i am having such a terrible headache today that i retyped your name like 4 times, from omage-not, to omega-note, to omage-note, to finally omega-not......

XD;;;;;;

Thanks! Headaches are difficult to deal with :( There are things that trigger my migraines which can take me out for a few days. When I had to type my name on the discord app, I misspelled it too >.> I typed Omega-bot... >.O

Hey - nice to meet you! I really love your drawing and interested to see your progress shots too. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece. I've seen some great 3D work done combining colour and using graphite over the top to give it the 3D effect you're looking for.

In terms of the mushroom... think of them as inedible toadstools unless an expert (and I mean someone who really knows! tells you otherwise. I know someone who ate one that 'looked tasty' and ended up with liver and kidney failure. Get it wrong and they can be fatal! That said- they are great inspiration for art :)

Tip!

Thanks @eveningart, that's a good idea, I do have graphite pencils. I was actually thinking about using colored pencils to create a 3-D look. I wonder if I can use both; maybe I can first use color and then if I feel the need to use graphite, I can use graphite over the color pencil.

WOW. That's crazy. I like mushrooms, I'm not a huge fan. I'll stick to taking pictures of them. I'm not sure if I'm a big fan of drawing food either, I would definitely get hungry.

Hahah- that's why I don't draw food- I'd end up licking the page ;)
I've used a light bit of graphite over the colour to add some shade in, and it works quite well - as long as the amount of colour on the paper doesn't feel too waxy so they graphite doesn't 'stick' to the paper. Definitely one to play with in a sketchbook first!

And yes, definitely steer clear of any unidentified mushrooms! :)

Acorns are so very bitter!

I want to see how you are going to make this 3D! So far it looks really cool and colorful.

I know a few edible mushrooms and that one is none of the ones I know. Be careful out there. Get a jester to tester your food maybe.

Lol, you sound like you've tasted an acorn too. I just finished coloring the entire picture and am about to post about it! It's not
3-D yet, but that's the next step :)

Oh yeah, I'm not eating any mushrooms in the wilderness (wilderness, that is, outside my apartment). Another person commented that someone else had liver damage and kidney failure! I wouldn't even want someone else to taste test that food x_x

Good point! Poor jester!
And indeed I am a risky tester
of taste in the wild,
when I was a child
I touched things to my tongue to see
whether the flavor would startle me.
But no longer, now I chide
anyone without a mushroom guide!

I always like seeing these kind of drawings. Although I have done several attempts to make nice looking ones myself, I never seem to manage to get them done nicely.. I love how yours is one piece (mine looked like a bunch of loose drawings lol not one piece at all)
