ORIGINAL ART, Ashen Wolf Character Design, Steps + Gif

Good evening everyone! I come to you with something special for tonight. Lately I have done plenty of females and sexy girls... but I have another passion. Its monsters and fantasy! So here is a step by step process of my latest beasty illustration. " The Ashen Wolf!!"

I hope you guys enjoy :)

Step 1. Always start with a basic idea and design and then sketch it out! Here were my initial thoughts

Step 2. Refine and redesign!!

The first sketch is never ever good enough.. the more times you do something the better it turns out!

Step 3. Line work!!

Now that I have something that I love.... I will now sketch over it one more time, and then ONCE MORE! TO get some nice clean lines.

As you can see.. the weapon was archaic and not up to par with the rest... so I fixed that and spent some good time on a wolf emblem!! And also his feet... this is not a dinosaur it is like a werewolf... had to fix that lol.

Step 4. Beginning colors!

Now how I usually start out is by finding the basic first coats, creating a good color scheme is really important when designing for a client. SO here are my decisions!

Step 5. PAINTING!!

Here is the painting, or the rendering process! Its the longest process in the whole thing because not only do I under paint but towards the end I over paint as well! Here you can see that I imagined some sort of moon like back lighting.

Step 6. MORE PAINTING!!

Here the details are beginning to show, I spent allot of time on that weapon of his... and his ashen cracks are beginning to show.

Step 7. Nearly there!!!

Here you can see even more details and some nice fiery ash coming off of him... I love him.

DONE!!!

He was super fun to work with!! I despriately need to get back into monster design :).
