RE: Queen of Dragons (handcut collage 50/35cm)
Hmmm... never expected to read such a quote from M.Monroe, and it is something I agree with. I believe that great art and creativity comes after very intense experiences, and unfortunately suffering is usually very intense and lasting.
The Tortured Artist concept is something that you find in the stories of the greatest creators: the loss of a loved one, emotional distress, psychological issues, all these things fuel the creative process. That's not to say that only suffering produces great art, but usually, that's the case :(
Anyway, I hope your creativity comes from joyful feelings of rainbows and little ponies... with tentacles!
Great collage, reminds me of the well-known Mother of Dragons, Liberator of Slaves, etc, etc, with those wings behind Marilyn looking just like the Iron Throne. Her glasses and suit give a nice modern twist, blending fantasy with the reality of the 60's!
Me too, i 've done a little research and this quote strike me as the best to accompany the artwork. It reminded me of the Westworld series and the awakaning of consciousness through suffering. In this photo she seems like waking up from deep thinking, or maybe she is shocked by the lizard in her blouse.hahaha.
