Redrawing a 176 year Old Coat of Arms
This coat of arms is a digital remastering of a very old coat of arms used by the English City of Manchester. The coat of arms were officially granted to the city in eighteen forty two.
The gold "bends" that form part of this design pay homage to an even older coat of arms. The heraldry of the Lords of Manchester who ruled the city prior to the thirteenth century.
The ship represented Manchester's status as a thriving port, that imported and exported goods across the globe.
A sea faring ship like this needs Gunwales though, lest she fall foul of pirates and have her cargo plundered!
And she wont get very far without sails, hoist the jib and spanker ye mangy dogs!
