Night is an amazing time when anything can happen. At all times, everything related to it was all connected with magic and witchcraft. Here and in the sea at night miracles happen. All the inhabitants that we used to see in the daytime go and fall asleep, and instead there are really unearthly creatures ... That's why I really like night dives, and I'm ready to spend many hours in the water after sunset.



I began shootings of squids very long ago, almost 10 years ago. First time it was only a few seconds. In the light of the lantern to observe one of these creatures. Let me introduce you squid. And more precisely, the reef squid or longfins squids.



Despite the fact that I dived with squid in different countries and seas, but most of all photos are taken in one place, on one dive site. Dahab. Lighthouse. All photos are also from there, for 5 trips from the range from 2011 to 2014.



Dahab prepared a real holiday, even for us, spoiled by diving at Indonesia. Every night ... this is the hour of magic ... most of it I swam with squid. They were the main goal, I was looking for them, searching the reverse surface of the water. When all the other normal divers sailed deeper in search of their diver's happiness - I was hanging out at a depth of just over a meter.



With a good layout in just 5 minutes, you could see one or even a few squids. Then we were spinning in some kind of outlandish dance, while another group of purposeful divers did not frighten my model. Then everything was repeated again and again.



Squids are very charismatic, and due to the ability to adjust to lighting, they constantly change their appearance. Each new angle gives new discoveries. It is simply impossible to stop.



Occasionally they come at once to several pieces. This afternoon the squid is swimming in packs. At night they prefer to hunt alone.

It's always magic. We are alone in the black water column. The sensations of the top, bottom, direction and time are quickly erased ... Sometimes I cleaned the camera and put out the light ... and we just looked at each other. When his eyes are close to your mask you begin to perceive it in a completely different way ... His eyes become amazingly alive. and almost human ....



Overflows of shapes and colors, then slow flowing, then fast as lightning in the light of a lantern. Sometimes they are solids, sometimes silver with inclusions of bright colors. Unique jewels created by nature ...
