Glitchy Paintings Blur Lines Between Realism & Surrealism
Brazilian-born, Berlin-based artist Harding Meyer paints large-scale expressive portraits of women and men that blur the boundaries between realism and surrealism. He artistically presents an intimate look at the human face on a larger-than-life canvas, allowing viewers to delve deep into each visage. Each portrait is presented with sharp brushstrokes in every direction, making Meyer's subjects appear like realistic digital renderings.
The multihued pieces offer a modern look at portraiture in an age of digital media. In fact, Meyer takes his subjects from various media (digital and print) and interprets the images by adding his own creative flair to them. Using his signature visual technique, the painter composes the beautiful, sometimes glitchy, image of these anonymous faces.
Meyer's artistic portraits will be displayed at munich modern starting November 7th.
