Reconstructing identities

I have been revisiting some of my older artworks and been thinking about the concepts they were based on. This specific drawing seemed tired and it felt like I had to revitalize it in some way, so my resolve was to digitally destroy it. By creating these fantastical pixel planes, the original artwork is stripped from its identity and meaning to create an entirely new artwork and identity attached to it.

I did made this piece in my third year of studying fine art and the concept was about Afrikaner identity. The piece is about 1,3m x 1,1m, the mediums I worked in was charcoal, shoe polish, ashes, ink and white paint.
