This beautiful place was created in the 1701. as part of the Charlottenburg Palace, in Prussia. It was designed by baroque sculptor Andreas Schlüter and Danish amber craftsman Gottfried Wolfram. The construction of the Amber room lasted for ten years.

It was built during the Prussian King Frederick I. Friedrich I gives the Amber Room to the Peter the Great in the custody of the Prussian-Russian alliance in the war against Sweden. Until that moment, Russian kings have invested a lot of money in its placement. It became more pretty and bigger. It was placed in one beautiful castle in Sankt Petersburg.   What was the Amber room made of?

For the construction of this room six tons of amber was consumed, but it does not make its basic value. Amber is a fossil resin, derived from a prehistoric tree, over a 50 million years old. That can be her basic value. Thousands of miners participated in the construction of this room. In the hands of craftsmen, she has become one of the greatest art works in the world. Amber panels are covered with precious stones and gold, somewhere are embedded paintings, mosaics and sculptures. All that together make this place very beautiful and valuable.

  What is Amber?

Amber SOURCE

Amber is still used in prehistory as jewelry. It has mystical properties but its properties are also known in physics from the ancient times. In the 7th century, Tales from Mile examined strange properties of amber. Namely, when the amber rinses with a cloth, he then attracts paper and pieces of paper. It's called the gold of the north, because 90 percent of the findings are in the Nordic countries. From the prehistory until our times, Amber was part of secret and it was made one mystical story.

  Pray of the Nazi soldiers

22. of July, Nazi soldiers entered in Sankt Petersburg. When the Nazis entered in the city, where the Amber Room was, the curators decided to beautify the wallpaper over the amber panels and thus deceive the usurpers, but the soldiers know that they are looking for. In only thirty-six hours they dismantled it, packed in twenty-six wooden crates and transported to Kenigsberg. The stolen plates were assembled and displayed in one castle.

The director of the museum was a great fan of amber. For two years while the room was exposed, he studied the history of billboards and other elements. As the end of the war approached, he was ordered to divest the room and move it. During the following year, the city was bombarded, and a museum was destroyed on that occasion. Consequently, each track on the room is lost.

     After the Second World War

Until this days, nobody knows what really happened to the Amber room. Some think that boxes with amber are still located somewhere in the castle. Some think they are at the bottom of the Baltic Sea, along with a sunken ship. Others believe that the cabin room was never stolen, because it was in private Stalin's property. Last year there was news that the Amber room was hidden in German forests. What is truth, we don’t know. Time will show.
