Nikolaevsky Palace is another work of the famous Russian architect Andrei Ivanovich Stakenschneider in St. Petersburg. About the previous works of the architect, about which I told you you can find out here:

   Nikolaevsky Palace was built in the period from 1853 to 1861 as the residence of the Grand Duke, General-Field Marshal Nikolai Nikolaevich (the third son of Emperor Nicholas I). The project was led by the architect Andrei Ivanovich Stakenschneider with the assistance of the assistants August Lange and Karl Zigler.

In 1894, after the death of the owner of Grand Duke Nikolay Nikolaevich, the palace was acquired by the treasury of St. Petersburg.
After the October Revolution of 1917, the Nikolaev Palace was handed over to the Professional Workers' Unions. The palace for a long time was called the "Palace of Labor".
