Bridges of St. Petersburg. The Krasnogvardeysky bridge.
The Krasnogvardeisky Bridge is located at the confluence of the Griboedov Canal and the Kryukov Canal. The bridge is pedestrian and has a distinctive feature - the entrance to the bridge and the descent from the bridge are decorated with staircases of seven granite steps.

As early as 1820, to implement the crossing of parishioners to the temple, a project for the construction of a suspended pedestrian bridge across the Ekaterinensky Canal (now the Griboedov Canal) was drawn up. The author of the project was engineer Egor A. Adam. The project was approved, but due to lack of funding, the bridge was not built.
The bridge was built only in 1956 - 1957 due to the construction of thermal communications in this place. The project was compiled in the institute "Lengiproinzhproekt". The authors of the project were engineer Kulikov, architects Areshev and Vasilkovsky.
The structure of the bridge is single-span metal. The welded span structure consists of two main beams and two auxiliary I-beams. Reinforced concrete, faced with granite, foundations are pushed into the channel by 3.3 m.
The length of the bridge is 21.5 meters, the width of the bridge is 4.5 meters.

Excelente descripción sobre esta obra, datos históricos interesantes y datos concretos sobre los materiales de su construcción. La quinta foto es la que me gusta por el efecto que le da la luz, aunque es una obra sencilla, le da un toque distinto. Los puentes pueden ser las cosas mas sencillas de hacer pero en todo el mundo tienen gran importancia, porque son ellos los que facilitan el paso para lugares complicados, ahorra tiempos largos para llegar de un lugar a otro y permite el crecimiento económico de una localidad alejada. Los puentes son también el arte y la arquitectura de San Petersburgo, ya que los nombres de los autores de proyectos de construcción de puentes son ampliamente conocidos no solo en Rusia sino también en Europa (muchos de los arquitectos son representantes de las grandes escuelas de arquitectura de Italia, Francia, Alemania y otros).
