One of the many things I'm interested in: Art and drawing
Since I'm fairly new here, I'm still searching for my spot. Although all that I've written and posted so far is something that I consider to be "my thing", I'm still figuring out if I should narrow my content down to some specific type of posts, or deal only with certain type of topics. The problem is, I do and am interested in lots of different things and consider myself as a thoughtful person. So at least my profile reflects who I am in some way, as I would modestly describe myself as: a sensitive, thoughtful, open-minded and in a way fairly intelligent woman, interested in many things from art to sports, culinary, travel, education and science etc. I'm always ready to contemplate and discuss things on a deep level. As I'm equipped with quite a good self-esteem, I dare to state that I do have a funny and goofy side among the other qualities mentioned above. So let me share another one of my interests with you:
Drawing!
I have been interested in drawing since I was just a young girl. I've always liked to express myself through it and it has been a way to relax and lighten the stress. I'm not saying I have the skills to be an artist (although what people consider skilled and art is subjective), but I've always thought I'm okay. At some point I even dreamed of applying for University of arts to study design or something related to arts, but then I got brainwashed to think I wouldn't be able to make a living as an artist, so I gave up that dream.
Anyway, here's something I drew a while ago.
Female body has always intrigued me; the smooth (or not so smooth) curves appeal to me, and I think every body is beautiful in it's own unique way. I draw these watching myself in the mirror, so they are modeled by me. I guess this is the most naked you will see me here, at least for now. They are not perfect, but I'm happy with the end result. Anyway what matters the most, is the process, ain't it @balabastic? I have always struggled with shadowing -I don't know how much to add and when to stop. That is why I drew only the outlines so that I wouldn't completely ruin my work this time. BTW if you have any tips for shadowing, please share them!
P.S.
As I said, I'm interested in many other things too: I for example excersize regularly, study education (I'm graduating soon) and have played violin for twelve years, so I would appreciate you'd tell if there's something particular that you would find interesting to read about! :)
I think your drawings are simply beautiful! I am in awe that you drew and modeled at the same time. You definitely have a talent there!! I’m also interested in so many things and am finding my way on Steemit...deciding if I will solely post about Henna or just be myself and post about all the creative pursuits I have!
Thank you, I appreciate the compliments! Modeling and drawing at the same time was quite difficult since I had to move in order to draw and then find the position again to remember what I was drawing :D Luckily I'm quite good at memorising what I see, so I could use that ability as my advantage there.
Talent is always interesting but so are the thoughts and pursuits, so I think you shouldn't abandon either.. Try to find the balance between the two or include your work (hennas) inbetween your writings? :)
beautiful drawing.. I would suggest try to post a bunch of things that u are interested in.. I have been here for a few months .. still clueless about what works best. Try to post a more detailed/ longer content with explaination than short ones..
I'm happy to hear you like my drawings. :) Thank you for sharing your experience based tips.
I actually thought of combining a bunch of interests in this post, to make little more variant (and maybe more interesting) post. But then I backed up, since I thought it might end up being too long and complicated. On top of that all the different pictures wouldn't have matched together, haha. I want to keep my posts somewhat coherent visually. Maybe I'll just have take new photos in order to combine things! :D
Hi! Charming drawing :) I like them, and outline looks very lively. I don't know if you used an eraser or not, but continue doing it.:) I also very much agree with the point that everyone's body is unique and could become a source of inspiration. I didn't have much experience in nude drawing, just one year at the university, and maybe I will continue doing it. And about shadowing it depends on which point do you start. Teachers like to say that every type of body could be simplified to geometrical figures, so if you look the basics of circle, cylinder, rectangular shadowing, you will know at least how it works. But when I draw I can't follow all their general recommendations because we can never see pure, we see through the prism of optical illusions so I just looked at the object and tried to copy what I see. So its just time and passiance. Keep doing!
Thanks for the feedback and tips! :) One year is something at least! You must know the basics then. I'm self-taught, so maybe I should take a look on those instructions you mentioned.
Yes, but this one year was not a traditional academic training, teachers were looking at the drawings and saying smth like: 'proportions are not ok', 'looks interesting', 'it's too big' etc. But traditional drawing I learned a bit at private courses in Russia, it can be very useful at the beginning, but also there are a lot of good books. :)
Hienoja piirustuksia! Missä opiskelet?
Voi kiitoksia! Tuntuu jotenkin nolommalta (ehkä väärä sana) saada suomenkielellä kehuja, hahah🙈 Mikäköhä muaki vaivaa.. Opiskelen Jyväskylässä.
Haha tiedän tunteen! Ei se vaan kuulu suomalaisuuteen kehua xD
Jep! :D
Hah 🤣 mukava kuulla 😝
