Beast painting-digital painting-showing the process step by step

Again i tried another digital art. This time i searched for a fantasy beast picture on google and chose one of them and then tried to paint it in photoshop.

You can ask why wouldn't i just make up things on my own and draw them.
I am not very good at concept art. That's why. That's why i need reference when i am drawing something.

Let's take a look at the painting then i will talk some more

So painting is always easier if you start with a sketch.
I didn't use to do that before. I just used to put colors directly and shade.
But i see that sketching is extremely helpful
so i sketched the beast first then i put color in that
this way i was sure where to put colors.
before shading and detailing its important that you put the colors without blending them first. it makes it more easier.

Also i think that i should have put a copy of the reference photo on the canvas so i could take the color sample directly from the photo, this way it could have been better.

This one took a very long time because it has a lots of different shades and very thin and weird places that i needed to be aware so the color wouldn't go outside the shapes.
