TRÊS RANCHOS - Photography series about this small village in Brazil and its intimate stories.
TRÊS RANCHOS
In “Três Ranchos” I created a connection between three different places, belonging to different times and one same space, the small city where my father was born and raised, Três Ranchos, localized in the interior of Goiás-BR. Listening to my father’s stories about that place, I began my work writing about them, in an interior visit to my own memories mainly affected by my imaginary. Weaving this fragments of story, the work becomes more visual with the physical visits to Três Ranchos, where I looked for connection points between the place my father describes, the one I remembered myself and the one that inhabits my imaginary in a Três Ranchos that must be retold, revived and reassigned.
"There are some ways of escaping home"
"The hands of women in Três Ranchos were like maps, only more complex and full of life"
This next fragment of the work is made of appropriated imagens from the family archive with this sutil intervention: the adding of "fuxicos", a small and round piece of cloth transformed in a tiny "flower", some of them with no bigger 2mm diameter. The fuxicos are made by my father's sister, who manufactures around 200 of them per day, and for her, they symbolize a revival, being essencial for her rediscovering of life, since before that, she thought she was uncapable of doing anything by herself, anything, felling useless and unmotivated to live.
