Santa Rita and San Pedro: dreaming through the rain
Hi!
I want to share this watercolour art i did during the raining days last year at Lobitos, Perú! The house where i live is located in Nuevo Lobitos district and its from an old Lobitean family, one of the first of the district. The neighbourhoods around are people from the area too, lots of fishermen, merchant women, and nice kids playing around.
So last year the raining season was amazing, it rain so much that you couldn't almost go anywhere, all the paths where full of water and it was very muddy (you could step up to your knee in the mud), so i use to sit outside the house watching the rain fall with my coffee and something nice to stir it up :) There i watched over the weeks how and almost dead plant around a very dry San Pedro start to grew. Both plants have spines and where very near but they never touched or damaged each other. In the end i figured out that this beautiful new plant that was regrowing, like a reborn was a Santa Rita also known as buganvilias. The beautiful soft pinks and intense magentas of the flowers of this plants instantly captivated me for months. The San Pedro also regain a lots of strength and deep green colours.
I started to fantasize about the idea they had fall in love each other, with so much respect and freedom they always had a space between them. It was such a beautiful romance, and they both felt so in love that this energy was reflecting in they appearance, their colours and smells! It made me think a lot about in how i want to face my relationships with others, the importance of real freedom and respect to other ways of thinking, letting them develop as they want makes always people happier and more comfortable with themselves and their surroundings. That's the way i want to translate love, in my paintings and in my way of living. Hope you like it!
Cheers,
Teiby
