What Most Fastfood Restaurants Don’t Tell You About Their Paperbags…
… is that you could get creative by churning them into envelopes!
Let me show you how I did it.
Disclaimer: I am not by all means encouraging anyone to consume fastfood nor am I endorsing the restaurant chain if you recognise its name from the photos on this post. But if their paperbags happen to be well-designed, then go ahead and treat yourself some fries and keep the paperbag for your next creative project such as this one that I am about to share.
Here’s how I helped a greasy paperbag reborn into a groovy envelope, in June 2017. Kind of giving a new life to its soul. Sorry that I didn’t record a clear step-by-step of the process. Hope you get the idea of it.
The tools you will need are pencil, ruler, glue, scissors, knife and cutting mate. If you don’t have any of them, borrow it from someone who who has. Please don’t use a kitchen knife or a chopping board as this isn’t a cooking lesson. Practice safety first, kids.
Get some creative juices in your head going and play around with the pictures, shapes and typography. If there is a tagline that is worth using, add it into the design.
Make the design elements flow from the front to the back and to the inside of the envelope. Include some human icon to give it some life. Also, put that do-not-litter reminder on it, so that the next person you has this envelope can help it reincarnate into something else in the next life. Maybe into a handbag, who knows? :D
Any leftover paper, don’t throw it away yet. Churn it into a letter or a wrap-around for vouchers, or whatever you can think of.
Lastly, mail it off to a friend, or to yourself if you don't have any. Just remember to stick a beautiful stamp on it before dropping it into a mailbox, NOT a trash bin that may look like a mailbox at the post office. And very importantly, you must write the recipient's mailing address, NOT their email address, on the envelope. This is a reminder to those who haven't posted a snail mail in their life before. Make sure you consult any friendly customer service officer at the post office should you have any doubt at all.
If you are lovin' what I have shared, please let me know. And if you decide to try this little project out, show me what you’ve done and report back in the comment section below. I would love to hear from you!
