The "Not so grumpy" @Grumpycat

I tried to make the cat smile but damn, It wont work. So i decided to just make him look cuter rather haha!

Here's a short time-lapse video for a quick ballpoint pen art for the fearsome @grumpycat

Using a ballpoint pen as a medium for drawing is quite complicated. It needs the both "P", (patience and passion) especially in hyper-realistic drawings.

Patience for creating the artwork, it would take time making a piece using a ballpoint pen that's why it is very important to be patient enough. And another thing you need to know that once you apply the ink, then there's no reason for you to be mistaken since applying the ink would make your output final and unerasable otherwise, you start again from a scratch.

In creating such, there are a lot of techniques that should be included for a satisfying result. This would involve your passion in drawing.

Passion means giving your best to a particular thing with love and willingnessand at the same time enjoying what you do.

If you love to draw, then more likely, you love to learn those drawing techniques as well. In that sense, you can use those techniques while patiently working on your ballpoint art.

though some of those ways can be used generally in art but ballpoint art has a particular techniques to guide you.

What are some of those techniques then?

Unlike a pencil, It doesn’t smudge. But, you can still apply the same techniques that you usually use in your drawings.

Are you familiar with hatching and cross-hatching using a pencil? If yes, then it's easier for you to do ballpoint art too.

The combination of the two techniques will give a desirable result with a much better tone and shading, depending on how hard you press. And it's more likely to have varied tones based on how many times you crosshatch back and forth.

As you can notice, the tone varies according to how many layers of hatching is made. This is very useful to distinguish a particular part of your drawing or to emphasize a particular shape through shading.

Another technique is also called as scribbling

Unlike other techniques, scribbling doesn't have precise patterns. In scribbling, you can work loosely, keeping the pen gliding over the paper. This also let you express your impressions, thoughts and feelings toward something.

Actually you can do scribbling by just letting your hands do the work and trace anything.

How to do scribbling?

Just simply draw anything you like, draw swirls all over the paper. Another thing also recommended by professional artists is that you should draw from your shoulder and not from your wrist.

Don’t stop your hand and dont lose your loose. You can make loops, some tight curls, make some zigzags, etc.

Stippling is also considered as one of the pen techniques

Stippling can ve done by making patterns with varying tones or shading by using small dots. Such a pattern may occur in nature and these effects are frequently emulated by artists.This technique is considered to be the most critical and precise among others.

But!

Though stippling can be done by a ballpoint pen in some ways but it is advisable to use a fine-tip pen fot this matter.

There are much more techniques out there that you can use in creating ballpoint art, you'll just need to dig deeper and read.

Actually, I had a hard time filming this time-lapse video. Why? Because, I got no tools for filming, just my beloved phone. I know this is funny but at least i have shown the initiative me and was able to come up with an idea haha!

Actually I am planning to buy atleast a tripod which i will be using to make more drawing timelapse videos but I still dont have much earnings. That's why i am trying my very best to be noticed and eventually earn, hopefully.
