Seven CC ArtworkssteemCreated with Sketch.

The Pseudonym "Katharsisdrill" is an experiment that has been running for over four years. The principles were to make art anonymously and to give it all away for free under the creative commons attribute license. Thanks to generous donations of bitcoins mainly from people at the Diaspora network and upvotes and donations from you guys I have been able to work most of 2018 on the project.

As is my custom my drawings are only Creative Commons when they are posted on my Diaspora-profile (unless stated otherwise). In return they are in high resolution so it is possible to make quality prints from them. If you have a laser printer you can get close to perfect quality in A4 and A3.

All the pieces are licensed CC-by 4.0. Remember that if you use any of my drawings in public circumstances you are obliged to mention me and link to my Diaspora page:

You are amazing, really :) Love the idea and the generosity :D

I appreciate your work and how you are publishing under cc. Myself, I am a bit more restrictive, and I usually don't openly advertise it, but my images on Flickr are marked:
0000 Creative Commons.png
Usually when peeps ask if they can use something for commercial purposes, such as a album cover or magazine, I let them use it free (if I like the concept) - but I like to be asked. On occasion I had asked for a copy, like for example a magazine or a CD.
Otherwise, for their personal use only, like printing a poster for their dorm, go ahead. And if it is non commercial (websites, videos, blogs etc), then attribution is all that is required.
Myself, I appreciate the work other artists create - and had used cc music (with attribution) on my videos.
Quite a few videos of mine use music from Kevin MacLeod: http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Kevin_MacLeod/

I began because I wanted to give something away to support the free federated networks. I also had no illusion about people respecting art on the internet, so just making it legit in the first place seemed an interesting experiment. Then I started earning a little bit of money from my art in this way, and of course have been thinking about how I can earn more... But in the end it seems we think pretty much the same about things. I am never going to be a commercial artist (my wallet tells me that) and maybe it will never get to a point where it matters anyway :)

Thanks for the MacLeod link i am listening now.

I really love this idea. So is it that artist income could be had from supplying free to use artworks and then rely upon the generosity of the community to you in BTC into a wallet via the site you mentioned, disporia?

How would one go about setting it up? I'm always intrigued in the new ways we artists can live our lives with our creativity in exchange for currency in some form or another.

The last two years I have begun believing that the internet just might be able to give some of that back to us artists that it has stolen.

People have gotten used to just have it all for free, and it is a long hard fight to turn that around. I sometimes talk to young people about how they listen to music and almost all of them just use youtube or Spotify or some other free way of getting it. When I was a teenager a lot of the money I earned on doing jobs like newspaper delivery, went to records and comics. They do not realise that the whole free-concept has ruined the arts, and how could they. They didn't create all this.

I think that the idea of Kickstarter, Patreon and Liberapay etc. is a good way, but it is very much uphilll!

Diaspora is just a free, federated network. I have placed my bitcoin addresses there and then people have supported me, mainly fans of Phill from GCHQ.

In reality I think we need to sell real things, just like the musicians have to play live... Things that can be copied digitally will maybe never really be able to give an income... but who knows what will happen :)

Awesome stuff, and making it under CC is even more awesome!

Thanks, mate :)
