Copper Clouds / Digital painting and rambling about life
I've been using my tablet to make digital art for about a year now. I love it dearly as it was my first, and I feel like I really learned a lot about digital art while using it, but our relationship is coming to an end soon.
Currently my canvas sizes are limited so really zooming in and rendering small details has been challenging. The poor thing is crashing more often which is giving me weekly panics where I wonder if I have lost hours of work. Sometimes the art gods are kind to me and when I reopen the app it's all there but too many times I have lost layers or the entire file has become corrupted :(
MFW my tablet crashes
I don't buy tech without lots of research and spec comparisons, so after a month of searching I have found what I hope to be a fantastic graphic monitor for a reasonable price and I ordered it today!
Squeeeeeeeeeee!
I have no doubt that it will take us some time to get to know one another, the workflow will be different and I'm a realist, every piece of tech has it's quirks. But hopefully when it arrives it will be even more joyous for me to create and leave me free to express myself fully without all these annoying limits and obstacles.
This week I will most likely be posting the last art that I'll be making from my tablet. I might use it from time to time if I want to be mobile or just to play around a bit, but I'm looking forward to turning a new page and hopefully upping my game a bit.
This feels like a new chapter in my artistic journey and I'm feeling very enthusiastic!
exciting! and what is your new tool? it will be great to see what this new device enables...
It's a huion 191, I'll probably do a post about it when I get it set up :D
I'm looking forward to hearing more about this as well.
Also I love this. I often choose ginger gals as subjects for my work.
What do you use, I seem to recall you saying it is a wacom at some point?
I use the wacom cintquiq 13 I believe it is. I bought it used a few years back. I love it, though I'd like to get one one day that is the self contained computer, this is the type you still need to hoop with wires and cords to an existing computer.
I am excited for you! Digital painting is definitely something that is on the top of my list to teach myself one of these days. I haven't done very much research...but Wacom seems to be the most popular brand out there.
I see on my tracking that it should arrive today, I am anxiously waiting!!!
Yaaay! When you get the hang of it...looking forward to your next level art!
His digital art is good. Keep working to make you more successful.
I don't even know how to react to this without being overly sarcastic :(
Truly beautiful @juliakponsford! Your skill is amazing. Good luck on the new purchase!
Thanks rose, I'm so Impatient now I have to wait a week for it to arrive, feels too long!
It will come before you know it! I'm happy for you.
I use a surface, it's great
Those look like a decent size but still portable, I was looking at them when I needed a new laptop but decided against because I already had the tablet.
Oh, I hate the frustrations of trying to work on art in any type of digital form when the computer doesn't want to keep up, or worse yet loses all of your efforts!
I love LOVE this artwork, though. The vintage feel intertwined with the contemporary digital feel is really an awesome aesthetic!
Yeah there are definitely so many pros to digital but when it goes bad it's really bad!
Cool image. Hope to see more of your art.
I am not an artist (more of a crafter) and have no brain for tech, but my graphic designer hubby just bought himself the tablet he's wanted since they first came into being. He used his vacation pay from his last job to get it and it arrived yesterday. I probably won't be seeing him again for months! heehee
have fun!!
Ooh congrats I bet he'll love it, you should try it out anyways for fun !
What app do you use? I've been using mine for almost 2 years! I just started Steemit ! ^^
I tried quite a few but my favorite is infinite painter, it has pretty much everything you would ever need and works quite intuitively. In fact I wish they had a desktop version so I could continue using it!
You draw on the phone? If you're looking for good desktop drawing apps I totally recommend FireAlpaca or Medibang! They're both really good and it's what I'm using! (Ibis Paint or Medibang for mobile apps as well!)
No I am currently using a tablet, I'll look into those for desktop, Ive watched a lot of reviews and I have photoshop but I might try paintstorm, I've heard its quite good :)
haven't heard that before!
Congratulations for the purchase. Always nice to have a new tool!
For a while I had the worst problems with my PC crashing and using my wacom. Turned out, that the graphics card needed a software update and the wacom needed a little fine tuning. There is also a conflict between win 10 and using a tablet with graphic applications... I can dig it up, if you are interested.
I'm using a mac so fingers crossed I won't have that problem, I'm sure I'll run into some technical problem though, seems it cant be avoided :p
